  • What is the difference between Sporting Rec League and Sporting Select League?


     

  • Why is Sporting Select League a different price than Sporting Rec League?



  • Are there tryouts?

    No. There are no tryouts as these are not identified as competitive teams. 

  • Are there player evaluations?


  • How are teams and rosters formed?


  • Can players request teammates or coaches?

    Yes. Players can request to play with specific teammates or coaches.

  • Can players play in an older age group?

  • What if a player’s skill level does not match the skill level of the league?

    Sporting Select League is a developmental league, but we want to ensure that players are developing at a level that allows them to be successful. We will work with coaches and parents on possible options to provide maximum player development. 

  • How many nights do teams train per week?

    Teams train a minimum of 1 time per week. Coaches and teams have the option to train 2 times per week. For coaches and teams that elect to train 2 times per week, there will be an additional $25 fee per player to secure additional training space during the 10-week season.

  • When will games be played during a weekend?

    Teams will play on Friday, Saturday, and/or Sunday. Dates and times will depend on facility availability.

  • Can games be rescheduled?

    No. Once the schedule has been published, games cannot be rescheduled. Games will only be rescheduled in the event of extreme weather conditions.

  • What is the difference between coaching in Sporting Rec League and Sporting Select League if both leagues use parent volunteers?

    Sporting Select League coaches undergo training to receive their US Soccer Grassroots License to better enhance player development. Sporting Rec League does not have this requirement. 

  • What coaching education will be provided?

    Coaches will be able to complete their US Soccer Grassroots License for 4v4, 7v7 & 9v9. All coaches will be reimbursed for their online training.

  • Is coaching education mandatory?

    Yes. All Sporting Select League coaches must obtain a US Soccer Grassroots License.

  • Are there yellow and red cards?

    Yes. Cards will be utilized in accordance with league rules.

  • Will Sporting KC certified referees be used during games?

    Yes. Sporting KC will host a referee training course before the season for those interested in officiating Sporting Select League.

  • What is included in the uniform package?

    The new uniform cycle will begin in the Fall 2027 season. Teams will continue to use their existing Sporting Rec League jerseys. 

  • Can teams order their own custom jerseys?

    No. Teams must wear the Sporting Select League jerseys provided in the uniform package. No exceptions.
