Coaches of the Season
At the end of each Sporting Rec League season, we ask parents to nominate a coach that made a positive impact on their players this season.
Each Sporting Rec League Coach of the Season will be honored at a select Sporting KC home game!
Congratulations to our Fall 2025 Coaches of the Season!

Here's what parents had to say about a few of our
Coaches of the Season
Elizabeth Russel
3rd Grade Boys
Central Bank Sporting Complex
"We have played several seasons of soccer with Sporting Rec League and Elizabeth has been the most influential, caring and supporting coach we have ever had. Our son does not have innate soccer skills, but she has worked closely with him and he has had the most improvement in his skills and sportsmanship both on and off the field this season.
He has also found a real love for the sport and is excited to come back for the next season already. She cares deeply about the kids and provides each one of them an opportunity to feel special and shine on the field no matter their skill level."
Jake Wille
2nd Grade Girls
Compass Minerals Sporting Fields
"Coach Jake is an experienced soccer player. What makes him special is that he is dedicated and willing to share his soccer experience and knowledge to his players so these youngsters can learn all of the fundimentals of soccer skills.
In addition to playing soccer, Coach Jake made sure all of the girls were having fun and bonding for the success of their future soccer journey."
Michael Denning
1st Grade Boys
Garmin Olathe Soccer Complex
"Michael has been a wonderful coach to our team for multiple years. He strikes the perfect balance between fun and instruction, making every practice and game enjoyable while helping each player improve. After the game, he takes the time to give personalized shoutouts to each player, highlighting their individual "wins" and contributions.
He consistently uplifts every player, emphasizing teamwork, sportsmanship and learning the game. This season, he went above and beyond by teaching players to understand and play modified positions, helping them grow strategically rather than just running around the field. His dedication ensures that every child not only develops their soccer skills but also enjoys the experience and feels valued on the team."
